Hi all WP Lovers,

Since we all very fanatic with our beloved wordprocessor, so for next or future release of WordPerfect, I hope it will focus on clean and simple interface (that's what make WP 4.2 so popular!). The next version of WP should have the same mnemonic function keys as version 5.1 or earlier, esp. cursor movement keys. Last time we can do it in a fraction of second without leaving our hand from keyboard. But now we have to touch & move the mouse then come back to keyboard. It's very unprofessional ! Why WP team can not create a single button for Moving Cursor around the document ? Do you remember last time, we can go to the end of the file just by pressing Home (2x) then press Down Arrow key or by pressing Home (3x) then press Up / Down Arrow keys and the  cursor will move to real end of the codes.

Hi all WP Lovers,

My second suggestions i would like to share is the WordPerfect Status Line. This what makes WordPerfect looks simple compared to other wordprocessor. I think Word Perfect should come with one clear page and put the Status Line on the bar at the bottom of the screen (make it Black background). On the Status Line or Bar should have the same as what we have before plus a few e.g.   Pg 1 Ln 1 Pos 1" Col 1 Ar10  A4  P  J 100%.  I think that's really 90% of what it describes the document.  For Ar10  (abbr. for Arial 10 pt should and the word should change to Bold or Italic or Underline or combinations of that if we use that function).  A4 means the Paper size is A4,  P is for Portrait Orientation (or LS for Landscape),  J is for Justification (or L for Left or R for Right justification, C for Center)  and 100%  is 100% zoom.

Hope WordPerfect team will take attention about this.

For my 3rd suggestions, I hope our beloved WP should have the capability to install plugins such as Flash Plugin, MATLAB Plugins (for engineering & scientific use), Skype, IM plugins, Yahoo Widgets plugins, Facebook & Tweeter plugins. This is very important to make our WP as a one stop program with a clutter free screen. People can chat or facebooking without leaving their WP program. For larger screen monitor (24" or above), WP should come with it's built in Internet Browser but for smaller screen still can use it by making it in tab form (same as in Google Chrome or Safari). This is very important, as 90% of our time, actually we spend on surfing the webs, either to get informations or searching for anything. That's how Microsoft conquer the Web and kill the Nexscape just by pre-installing IE with every Windows.

Hi All WP Lovers,

For my 3rd suggestions, I would be happy if WP can have it's own File Manager (same as our previous DOS versions just by pressing F5 key). I think WP should put back the File Manager but with some additional functions. Last time we can print file(s) without opening it and we can do it without leaving our current document. We can delete, rename and etc just from the File Manager. May be now we can add e-mail function, fax function, send to blog page or upload to our webserver, and the most I like to see is, its capabilty to Convert file(s) into high resolution PDF (selectable), or can convert into Multiple pages of hi-res JPEG, GIF, TIFF just from within the File Manager.

WP should come with very easy Send to Email or Fax function without using the OutLook mail client. User just marked the selected files, then enter your client email (Send To) and our email & message, then press send. Yes, that's very simple. No need to configure or setup the profile in OutLook. For faxing, i think it should be the same way, just enter client phone number and then press Send fax.

Hi all WP Lovers,

For my 4th suggestions, I'm very happy if WP should come with built-in or plugins for Video/CD/Flash Player. Most of our time we listen musics or watching video or TV even during doing our jobs such as writing, surfing etc. The viewing panel is resizable (can toggle into Full Screen when needed). So user won't need other Video/CD/Flash Player to play their movies.

Hi all WP Lovers,

Do you notice where is the Repeat key, last time we use ESC key to repeat how many time you want WP do your selected command. Last time, if we want to copy and paste 20 times, just copy a block of text, press ESC and enter 20, then press Paste. It's so easy, now all you have only by using mouse or Ctrl-V, but it takes more keystrokes to press, if 20 means u have press 20 times Ctrl-V or 40 times mouse clicks (one to call the Paste menu and the second click it to select paste).

What's make WordPerfect prior to version 5.1, is how simple and fast it is !  Hope our WordPerfect Teams will think to put it back !

My 5th suggestions, I would be happy if WP can have the capability as an eBook Reader. People can use their WP to read Novels, subscribe Magazines or daily Newspaper without leaving the program or their works. These can be done in Tabulated form for small screen monitor or utilize part of the screen when using larger screen monitor (24" or larger).

WP also should put a digital or analog clock and user can set the reminder alarm - when they should submit or print their documents.

WP also should come with AutoPrint function that will print selected (preset) document(s) when the date or time arrived. WP will print those documents even the user is not in front of their computer. This is good for printing long documents, or multiple copies documents where the WP can handles it at night or when the printer is available - good preparing documents or reports for meetings!

Hi all WP Lovers

Are you always deals with graphics and pictures ? Why many new users like MS Word ? I'm always use my MS Word as a DTP because i don't like to learn Photoshop, Illustrator & InDesign or PageMaker. I just to make a simple brochure, name card, simple advertisement pages, and I found it very easy to do it in MS Word. Even before that (duiring WP4.2 to 5.1) I'm one of the WordPerfect fanatic. I love WordPerfect in many ways compared to Word. But when comes to graphics, I have to use MS Word or PowerPoint. Even WordPerfect have a very good graphics functions (traits from Corel Draw). e.g. iin MS Word you can group several picture or objects easily and if under PowerPoint you even can save it into any graphic format such as JPEG, GIF, TIFF etc., But how to do it in WordPerfect, may be I didn't find the ways to that. So what I hope in next release of WP, it should have the capability to convert any graphics or picture(s) into any selected graphic formats (JPEG, GIF, TIFF, PNG, etc). So people will use WP as a graphic converter - that is one of the marketing strategies.

In MS Word user can use Crop function to trim any picture easily. So I hope WP also can do it better than that, but the important things, it must be easy or simple. (don't make it too complicated, because we are not using DTP program). And don't forget, it should have the capability to group and ungroup combination of pictures or textboxes.

My 6th suggestions, it should have one Graphic Pane or column to display pictures or clip arts in a vertical way just beside our current document. So when we need to insert Graphic picture, just press certain key to invoke the Graphic Pane that will display a library of graphics / pictures or photos or clip arts. Then we just pick the pic or photo that we need and drags it into the document. Just that easy ! WordPerfect will search all the graphics from the entire hard disk and categorised it according to their formats (JPEG, PNG, TIFF, WPG, DWG, GIF, etc)

Hi all WP Lovers,

My 7th suggestions is about voice command capabilities. In the next release, I would be happy if WP can utilize our voice to invoke certain functions such as writing Mathematical equations, change attributes such as Italic, Bold, Underline, Superscript, Subscript, Change case, print for a block of highlighted text etc. This can be done just by hold specific key or keys and then give a voice command. I think that way will make life easier when using WP. So please don't miss that capabilities in the next release !

My 8th suggestions, I would be happy if WP can include one Widget Pane. So any interested users or creative developers can develop their utility widgets to expand our beloved WP. We just install only the widget that we are really need it from a library of widgets when they are available in the future.

Up to here,  I have given all my suggestions. So in the next release of our beloved WP, I'm sure it will make our WP becomes a great program. What the deals when one day you can have a WP with built-in IM, facebook, Skype plugins. You can use it as an internet browser, as a graphic converter, as an e-Book reader to read your favourite novels, books, magazines or even you can subscribe your daily newspaper and read it through our WP. When you need any quotes just copy & paste it into your documents. You can save your time and make your screen clean and uncluttered. So using WP won't be bored as before - it's socially interactive !

Preparing a documents become so easy, because you now can insert graphics (pictures, photos, clip arts from any formats) just by choosing it from the Graphic Pane. You just scroll it down (or type the file name) until you found what pic or photo you want and drags it into your documents. You then can resize and manipulate it according to your style.

For scientist, engineers or students, you can use your WP to produce electronic documents that can display MATLAB simulation graphics, MATHCAD, AutoCAD drawings (.dwg), or you can embedded any virtual equipments such as digital Oscilloscope, Electrocardiograh (EKG), Echocardiograph, Electro-encephalograph (EEG) when your computer is connected to the real equipments. So your computer will display an output in real-time or Offline mode. This group is a very big target market for WP !

Every day 90% of the computer usage is related to entertainment such as music & web surfing. So with VCD/CD/DVD/DiVX player built into the WP program (or better if can built in with TV tuner software), user can use it to watch their favourite video or listen to the radio or HD Radio or watching TV without using other programs. These can be done nicely if more users will use larger display, so half of the screen can be used to display video window and another half is for their document. So by using WP, we now can watch our favourite video, or play music video, or watching TV and at the same time do our work (prepare or print  a report, documents etc)

In term of improvements, I think a lot can be done, WP can learn from Apple, how to make it easy & simple to do a given task (s) and how we can do it in a creative way. I have stressed on user interface, make it looks clean and clutter free.

When we start WP, the screen will display one piece of paper with Status Line (which will indicate the position of the cursor, paper size, paper orientation, fonts & attributes & size, zoom percentage or may be with printer status (either ready or not & with a printer name), and a box at the right corner of the screen (slightly above the Status Line) will show the page margins. So user can directly start typing their document. All the attributes (font type, size, Bold, Italic, Underline, Superscript or Subscript etc) can be invoked by using keys (or user can call the Floating Menu by press centain key if he/she want to use a mouse). The floating menu (icons) will be hidden automatically (may be after 2 minutes) when not in use.   Regarding the Status Line (make it more attractive (what we have in the current version is too small and insignificant). May be we can change the background color of the Status Line (customizable) according to our taste.

And one more thing in my suggestions is the File Manager. We don't want to use standard Windows file manager. So we better have our own Files Manager like what ever have before during DOS version. Let's stick to F5 key to invoke it.

By using our own File Manager, WP can sort files based on their extension (e.g. *.wp, *wpx, *.doc, *.xml, *.htm etc). Let's say we want File Manager to display only WP files, so we just   select "WP Files Only option". From the Files Manager, we can print document selected documents without opening the files, rename or delete it or copy and send to another directory or drive, or we can select file(s) and send by email or fax without using email client such as Outlook. What we have to do just select the file(s), press send by Email key, enter the recipient(s) email address, and also your email address (sender's email), and you can add message (optional) then press Enter (send). I think that is much more interesting. No need to configure client email, select Compose  and attach file(s) then press Send).

I think there are a lot of improvements WP can do to make it a great Wordprocessor. What we are looking is the functions and how easy it can do it and how fast it takes to finish a given task. We don't need the fancy color or ribbons as what our competitor have been doing. If WP can fulfill all or some of my suggestions, I think many users can jump back to WP wagon, and we can again be the King of Wordprocessor !
