What has happened to ctrl + arrow

I downloaded x6 and am using it now. There is one thing, that annoys me a lot: In my old version I use ctrl + arrow to jump to the next word.

For some reason, it does not work in X6 - if for instanceI want to jump to

this.

(In my old version I would have landed at the t in this.)

Is there any way, I can use that shortcut again? (Sorry - English is not my first language and I have had some problems explaining the issue).

PDF Loading Problem in WP Office 5

I have not been able to open pdf files from the internet. For example, I tried to open a pdf file from the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals home page (it was a copy of a published opinion) or recently I tried to open a pdf from the IRS internet site. These are just examples. I have not been able to open any pdf files from any internet site. On the other hand, I am able to open pdfs that are attached via email. Any ideas what the problem could be?

WordPerfect for Mac

I had the inaugural version of Word Perfect and my firm continued to use it for over 20 years or so. We converted documents to Word only when we had to, but mainly converted to .pdf files for transmittal. We finally gave up last year on Microsoft bloatware and daily downloads to correct an inferior operating system, and converted our US and overseas offices to Mac. However, we sorely miss WordPerfect. (Our CFO has refused to convert, to avoid losing WordPerfect, but her PC is about to die, and she will convert to a Mac as well.) Running Windows on a Mac is not a real solution. With the ever-increasing number of Mac's being sold, including an increasing number of corporations, like ours, that have converted to Mac, when is Corel going to reintroduce the new WordPerfect for Mac?

Conditional Formatting

Does anyone know if it is possible to do a conditional format in quattro pro? I can see that in the numeric format it appears to have the option but I can seem to get any of it to work, even after reading every blog post I can find.

I would like a row highlighted when a date greater than the days date is entered into a specific column. Is that possible?

Impossible to create charts in Quattro Pro X5

Whether I start with PROCEDURE A: (1) a click on Help Menu, (2) select Perfect Expert, (3) click on Add Graphics, and (4) click on Create Chart; or PROCEDURE B: (1) click on Insert Menu, (2) Chart, and (3) Use Chart Expert; the next event is a warning message in a box:
“Blank Range selected, the Chart Expert needs numerical data to continue. [OK]”

But I have data – plenty of it! The chart expert should provide me with a means to provide the data that it “needs” but it does not – it just dumbly stands there in the way, blocking any action. The Help file states that, after clicking on “Use Chart Expert,” I should click on “Next.” But where is that choice? And, from there I should choose the kind of chart from a “Category List,” etc.

None of these options appear in place of the box with a warning message (quoted above). I have created many charts of different types in previous versions of Quattro Pro, so I should be able to do so in QP X5.

I am using QP X5 within WPO X5 on trial – testing to see if I can use it on my new computer, instead of an older version. My computer is operating on Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) with an Intel Core i5 processor. I have always liked QP but less so at the moment.

One more note, occasionally the screen fades, and a note reports that QP is not working or not responding. After closing QP, another box usually appears, giving me the choice to close or wait. After clicking on close, Windows takes a few moments trying to find a solution, but never reports one. This happens, too, in WP X5. Are all these problems due to a corrupted download, installation, or partial program because it is a trial copy, or what?

WP X6 Grammatik repeatedly crashes

I always use Spell Check and Grammatik in WordPerfect. Grammatik isn't perfect but is helpful. Testing the trial version of X6, I notice improvements have been made, but unfortunately it repeatedly crashes, closing the program very ungraciously. I'm running win7 and get "WordPerfect X6 has stopped working, Windows is checking for a solution to the problem..."

I repeated, remade changes, repeated, etc., but it always crashes at the same point. It's done this on more than one document.

Rather than save after each Replace, I'm going to stick with X5.

Anyone else have the same problem? Anyone else even use grammatik?

Importing after Omnipage text recognition

After scan and text recognition by Omnipage, I am troubled by all of the discrepant formatting that has been inserted into the Wordperfect export. I could export to text but of course all lines are terminated by hard returns. Replacing them with soft returns requires going back to the end of each paragraph and hand editing to hard ones. Meanwhile the Wordperfect export is full of paragraph style, font, margin changes, etc. When scanning a 2 column section, Omnipage seemed to see the columns but the WP export did not. I ended up using MS Excel as an intermediary except that the 2nd column was placed after the first. I would note that the Omnipage export was labeled to WP X3.

Open same document on OPEN that I was working on when closed WP-X5

I have been through all the "Settings" and I cannot find the option that allows me to do this. Please help.

Error while installing Wordperfect X5

Hello all,

I am new to this Community. I am so frustrated... I really need some help!

I am trying to install a new, legal CD with Wordperfect X5, Standard edition on it. Previously, I had a 30-day trial (which had expired) version of Wordperfect X4 on this computer, which I first uninstalled. In the very beginning of the X5 install, I get an error that says "Install Chaining Application has encountered a problem and needs to close", and with that the installation ends.

I have tried: 1) setting up a new user name with Admin rights, and installing under that name.

2) Installing in Safe Mode

3) Disabling all anti-virus software and firewalls

4) Copying the entire installation disc to a folder on my C Drive, and ran the installation program from C.

My feeling is that there is something in the registry that conflicts between the X4 trial that was on this PC, and the X5 that I am trying to install... but I have no idea how to fix it.

HELP!!!

PDF file cannot be opened in WP X5

WordPerfect X5 cannot read any file produced by scanning on my printer: HP Photosmart 6510-B211a. Every time after clicking on “File/Open PDF . . . “ and selecting the scanned file. WP X5 displays the following message:
"The PDF file cannot be opened for editing because it is encrypted or corrupted."

Yet all of my trial scanned documents are opened immediately by Adobe. Moreover, WordPerfect X5 has opened all other .pdf documents - whether normal text or tables - that I have NOT scanned but already had on my computer. All were opened in a format that could be edited.

So, the problem may be that WordPerfect X5 doesn't like HP scan files. Should a setup change be made in WordPerfect X5? If so, how do I make it?

WP X6: Runtime Error on Windows 8

I have just installed the trial of WP X6, and for the trial, I decided to have a clean install without importing my previous settings from X5. (I thought I could still do that later by uninstalling and then re-installing X6 with the import settings option selected in the installer.)

However, I am not able to run X6 successfully on my Windows 8 Consumer Preview installation. X5 runs wonderfully with Win8, but I cannot get X6 to work without this Runtime Error:

I know that Win8 CP is still a beta version of Microsofts's latest OS, but has anyone already had any success in running WP X6 under Win8, and what could I do to get rid of this error message?

WordPerfect (all versions) index generation

First encountered in WP9, when generating the index from entries in a table that has multiple line rows and where any line in a given row can have its own index entry, whenever a row overflows to a new page (HRT-SPG) all indices for this row on that new page will generate a page number of 0 (zero).

This has been reported in WP9 and acknowledged as a bug, rereported in WP12 and acknowledged again, and I just downloaded X5 to try but the problem still exists.

What makes it even worse is that I cannot link all page numbers in the index to the actual page because WP does not generate a bookmark for these overflow lines in a row.

I am new to this forum and don't know if the WP support staff gets involved here but I would very much have this problem resolved if at all possible (No sense upgrading to X5 until resolved). The index has close to 10,000 entries it it is really not possible to do this manually.

Need a Quatro Pro Expert

I'm certain most people in this forum would find the requirements simple, but those of us technological nincommpoops are completely befuddled. I note that you have an app for the iPad, Wordperfect Viewer, but failed to offer one for my Android Gingerbread tablet.

It looks like you've partnered with Apple, which is good business for you, but, to me, it's almost like making a version of Wordperfect Suite for the MAC but not for Windows.

Default Cell Background Highlight Color

Is there a way to have the cell color selected remain the default while a spreadsheet is open instead of having it default back to white for every new cell selected. X5 and X6 have taken simple things and made them more comlicated.

Enable Numeric Keypad For Selecting Files

When opening a file (File Open) or switching between files (Alt Window) I cannot select a file using the numeric keypad. The only numer keys that work are the number keys above the letters. As a number cruncher who uses the numeric keypad this slows me down. Is there a fix for this? Same bug as in X5. this may seem minor those of us who are number crunchers are not used to typing numbers without the numeric keypad. Why would this be disabled, especially in a spreadsheet

Can I upgrade to WP X6 and keep all my settings from X5?

I would like to upgrade to WP X6, but I have highly customized X5 to my own individual needs, and I have some custom macros and templates I want to keep. Does X6 automatically keep my old settings?

Thank you for taking the time to reply - or to point me to a former post that might already describe this scenario. (A quick search I did on this site did not really reveal anything to me that seemed to help.)

address book

have recently upgraded to X5...having a problem accessing Address Book; I click Tools, Address Book and nothing ever and I mean EVER happens, its like the whole program freezes up. I used this feature all, all, all the time in the older version and need to get this one going. I did try a re-install but that did not help at all.

Any answers out there?

WordPerfect X6 should visually switch to all open documents to prompt to save

Exiting WordPerfect X6 (and previous versions) does not visually switch to all open documents to prompt to save.

When you have several documents open and you click on X to exit, you will get prompts to save each one of them but, unlike other programs, WP does not visually switch to each unsaved window when prompting to save.

If you simply create several documents in Quattro Pro and then click on X to exit - you can see Quattro Pro visually switch to each document when prompting to save. WordPerfect does not do this, adding to the risk of closing unsaved data which can easily be forgotten to be saved because it is not visually seen before Exit. Other word processors do this. Quattro Pro does this. It is time that WordPerfect gets this feature too.

How do I set the default file extension?

I am using WP X5, but need to save files as .wpd files so that they can be opened by older versions. X5 seems to automatically add ".wp" to any file name I create, so that when I try to save "file.wpd", I get instead "file.wpd.wp", which I then have to change in Windows Explorer. Since I want all of my files to be *.wpd, is there some way to make that the default setting?

Also, strangely, .wp files are not associated with WP X5 -- the document icons show up as "unknown file type", not associated with any program.

PowerPoint Photo Album Feature - Possible in Presentations?

You can insert many *.jpg's into a presentation at once and they all end up on separate slides.

Is this possible in Presentations X5? I can't find anything. PowerPoint calls it Photo Album.
