Don't know if this is an issue with anyone else, but thought I'd post just to see.

Presentations X6 running on a dual Quad core at 3.4Ghz, with 8 gib ram and 1 Gib video.

When I add a sound to a slide, it seems that the program will temporarily "freeze" during a save.  That is, the program will get to a certain percentage, 94% or 97% and then a warning will come up "Not Responding."  If I wait a few seconds that goes away and the file is saved.

When I remove the sound from the slide or program, the issue is not resolved. But when I remove the slide from the show where the sound was, then the issue is resolved.  Work around is to make up the slide show and then add the sounds all at once on the slides needed, and then do one save where I get the "not responding" warning.  Probably a quirk in this version.  I skipped X5 and it did not happen in X4.

Sound familiar to anyone?

Hey revmatthew,

This is likely due to large sound files, a slow disk drive or an antivirus scanning your files as you save them.  Essentially, if the slide show takes more than 5 seconds to save, Windows will flag the application as not responding.  This is a known issue, but should not have any negative effects on your document if Presentations is allowed to finish saving.

It is odd that removing the sound does not resolve the issue; we will look into that.  Note that the 'Not Responding' warning can come up while saving any sufficiently large slide show, even if it doesn't contain any sounds.

Well, yeah.

I've played with it that way, and shutting down my antivirus seems to have no effect.  But it does save eventualy.  I'm working this with the Corel tech team via an incident.  There may not be a real solution, other than to accept it is a 'thing' that Presentations X7 does on this computer.   The X3 at home seems to hang a bit during the save of these presentations files, - they are about 50 meg or so, some up to 80, so that may be the issue.  Not sure of the write speed of the 640 Gib HD, but it does spin at 7200.  Oh well, I'll update this post should something neat appear.

Thanks for the feedback.
