I came across a client with several workstations running WP X5 (WPWIN8.EXE) on XP that run just fine, but one instance is installed on a Windows 7 PC that ALSO runs fine except for one problem.
They can't seem to search for files by content.
In other words - on the XP versions, they select file --> open and then type borkman in the filename bar and then click FIND and a window pops up with all the files that contain the name "borkman"
On the Windows 7 system, the search window pops up with the quickfinder folder and a message that the folder is empty.
IF they go to ADVANCED and double-click the "file properties are" line and fill in the name - THEN it finds the files, but that's far more work than on the other workstations were "find" just seems to work.
Any ideas on what might be set up wrong in this installation or in Windows?
Or is it simply a side effect they'll have to deal with?
Small inconsistency with your post -- you've indicated the problem is with WP X5 but the EXE is that of WP 8. (X5's would be wpwin15.exe)
If you are on X5, have you tried a repair or running the QuickFinder utilities directly (vs via the File Open)? These can be found in WPO's start menu group under Utilities.
This is not a known issue and should work. Feel free to send a screenshot of the errors as I'm not sure what you are seeing (wpofeedback@corel.com)
