I've noticed that the Copy to WordPerfect Lightning Note feature has been disabled in Firefox 3. Can you let me know when this is likely to restored?

Best regards,

I reported this below with Firefox RC2.  One problem lays with the install.rdf file which states the max version is Firefox 2.0.  Whether or not there are other problems I'm not certain.  I prefer Firefox immensely and use it exclusively, but I have to say that I'm starting to understand why software vendors are reluctant to make use of its capabilities when it forces people to update their releases with every new version.  Whatever its immense problems, MSIE looks like a pretty stable development platform.

Looking through the code and documentation, there is a further incompatibility with Firefox 3.  According to the documentation there are additional requirements for extenstions that use the about facility in firefox 3.

eg. nsIAboutModule implementations are now required to support the getURIFlags method. See nsIAboutModule.idl for documentation. This affects extensions that provide new about: URIs. (bug 337746)  This is noted at http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/Updating_extensions_for_Firefox_3#Removed_interfaces.

Finally - we have a proposed new plug-in for this that you can get from the FireFox site:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/10984

Sorry for the amount of time to get this out.  But, with internal things and actually getting this posted and actually visible in the FireFox Sandbox it took longer than I hoped.

Please go and comment on the plug-in so we can get it flipped to a "live" state.

Jay

Thanks for the follow up details.  I am going to check this out with one of the Dev guys.  May be we have to uninstall the other first....I will let you know.

I am having the same problem as tedeabear and the other posters.

At this point I am thoroughly frustrated.  Can't install the new patch and can't uninstall the original.  I even tried to uninstall/reinstall  WordPerfect Suite just to get rid of the Lightning.  Even that didn't work.   It is almost enough to make me quit WordPerfect all together.

Just an update that we are continuing to work this.  If we drag and drop the file onto our FF version 3 it works fine.  If we upload it to the FireFox sandbox, it appears that we get some errors depending on what disclaimers we enable (which is just weird).  If I can't get anything maybe we can just upload here.

Thanks for your patience.

Cheers,

Jay

Sir,

I need help with lightning.
How do I uninstall it?
Where are the data files saved?
Is there any way to convert the file names to the names that show in the interface?
Is there a way to change the default opening of PDF documents to the Corel viewer and not the Lightning viewer?
With a lot of files it seems to slow down the system.
I want to uninstall Fire Fox and try to reinstall so I can save directly to Lightning.
I would like to save files to many locations along with other related documents.

Thank you,
Ted
