My experience with Parallels (I've only tried the latest version) hasn't been that bad (yet). But I certainly agree that a native WP would make life much easier. Also (a point I've made before), why would you even be bothered to start a document on WP on your work PC (say) when its going to be a hassle working on it at home or on the road

Yes, Mel (I'm assuming that's your name?), I'm using it on my 2007 iMac (+ virtual machine + WinXP) and also on a Toshiba laptop running Vista. On the Mac, I recently decided to give Parallels a go (I'm trialling Win 8 on it). The experience is more integrated into OS X than Fusion, for me. So, I'll be using it from now on. But both

Hi Mel, I do the same thing. Even if OSX is not the primary platform at the office, on the road (as a laptop) or at home it could well be. And it is a real inconvenience to jump between word processors. So, I would think that having a Mac version available is a smart way to keep people using it on their work PCs. I find myself using M$ Office more these

Thanks Jason, Just bought it - ready to support anyone who can find some workaround for this obstacle. How does it go with more recent versions of wpg files? (There already is a graphic converter application for Macs but it can't do recent wpg versions.) Cheers, Eric.

Hi milkeo, Actually there are a few alternatives to M$Word in the Mac world. Apple have their own word processor, Pages. There are also interesting variations, such as minimalist apps like WriteRoom, or apps that help you organise your writing project such as Ulysses. A good all-round word processor is Nisus Writer. It will even open WordPerfect documents

Hi Heather, As you are no doubt aware, Mac OSX 10.7 is out and it's a winner! Have you had a chance to play with it yet? Eric.

sosslaw, the way I see it is that many people will have a PC at work and an Apple at home (or perhaps the reverse). So, as it stands, for each Apple computer bought, there is not only a missed opportunity to purchase WP, there is one less reason to buy WP for the PC, because you want to be able to open and work on a document on any computer in your

When the upgrade to the COD was offered back in WP11 days (as I recall), I purchased it and was sent a .dll file which one manually replaced. Several WP and computer upgrades later, I notice that one now needs to enter a serial number to upgrade, which is, I expect much safer, and also gets around the problem of losing the old codec.dll file when replacing

That's wonderful to hear, Heather. If it were to happen, I would cross grade on the first day of its release, and say good buy to Windows forever (well, almost)! Cheers, Eric.

Hi Jay! Just downloading the WP viewer for the iPhone. Looking forward to giving it a spin. Thanks hugely! Cheers, Eric. (PS Regarding viewing WPGraphics on my Mac, there is an app called GraphicConverter [ http://www.lemkesoft.com ] which can read older versions (1&2) but not the newer ones.)
