WP Office 5
I am no longer able to save files to PDF. I get the attached error message:
An unexpected error occurred that prevented publishing to PDF
Any advice ? Thanks in advance.
I'm assuming you mean WP X5. What is the build of your X5? Click Help > About. There will be a number like 15.0.0.xxx where xxx will be 3 digits representing the build. You may need to apply the service packs to get to the latest build which I believe is 18.104.22.1682. Also, what version of Windows are you running.
You could try a Repair of your WP. You access Repair from the Control Panel of Windows and proceeding like you want to uninstall WordPerfect. However, when you get to that point, choose the "Repair" option.
Many thanks tlnet. Sorry, yes WP X5. Build is 22.214.171.1248, a number that suggests it is later than the 126.96.36.1992 you quote. I had already tried a"Repair" but repeated it today. No improvement.
Windows is 10 Home: version 1803, Build: 17134.345
I have, however, found an easy way round the problem. With the document open in the WP window, click on "Print" and change the printer to "Microsoft Print to PDF". A dialogue box opens and you save the file in in PDF format.
Would still be interested to know how to solve the WP error tho.
I would start with your file and eliminate graphics. If that doesn't work, put the graphics back and eliminate tables. If that doesn't work, look for and eliminate special characters or formatting. In the Publish to PDF dialog box, you might experiment with the different PDF Styles. You might find something specific you need to avoid in the future.
In other words, I think something in the file content may be causing the problem. Or something that is incompatible with the type of PDF file you are saving to.
Thanks Ron, Tried elimination of graphics and tables to no effect. Saved in different PDF formats with similar lack of success. Even plain text will not now convert to PDF.
Any further ideas / comments? As the MS Print option works fine, I am inclined to leave it at that.
Can you attach a file that doesn't work?
By the way, another good PDF printer is Bullzip.
I still think it's the file content. Here's an interesting post from wpuniverse.com,.
Believe it or not convert to PDF is now working correctly - with tables and graphics. Can't now put my hands on the files that did not convert but many thanks for your help and interest.
For something to suddenly work after days of not working doesn't mean the problem went away. Either you applied an update or Windows did an update which created an issue but there is nothing to indicate how it was resolved. Did you check your Windows Event Log to see whether there were issues appearing during that time period or did you apply any sort of update to another application.
I believe Wordperfect has it's own internal PDF converter so you did something on your system to suddenly make it work.
