Oh dear! - I just tried, with a different printer, got nonsense, tried different settings, and now [Print] is greyed out,
I shall try again tomorrow. What follows is notes from years ago: the ideas may or may not be useful
(For my current printer, duplex printing in an option in the printer driver, accessed thus: File>Print>[Properties].
Probably WP can control that too - its Print Dialog offers Two-sided printing.)

Then - how to avoid printing all pages instead of half (one side) (in WP12)
=== from Joel Miller, re: WP12 ===
I had some trouble setting up booklet printing with my Epson Stylus C82. Here are the steps I take (could work for you):
1. Format-->Page-->Page SetUp -- set up landscape paper orientation, subdivide the page and set the margins;
2. On the Layout tab, under Two-sided printing, make sure Tablet (top to bottom) is selected (NOT booklet (side to side) as one would expect)
3. When printing: on the print dialog box on the Layout tab ensure that Use document settings is selected under Two-sided printing; and that Print as booklet is checked.
In other words, don't fiddle with your printer's property sheet. Let WordPerfect handle everything.
=== from Gene Hora, re: WP12 ==
Before proceeding below: On Page Setup you must first sub-divide the page (number of columns) and set orientation (portrait/landscape), then:
File > Print
Click "Properties"
In the Printer properties dialog window:
Click the "Finishing" tab.
Check the checkbox for "Print on Both Sides".
Make no other changes.
Click "OK".
Back to Print Dialog window:
Click "Layout" tab.
Check the checkbox for "Print as Booklet"
Make no other changes.
Click "Print".
(Do not check "step 1 or 2" ("Odd or even" under "Manual"))
(The printer will do this work)
Depending on printer even/odd pages of the booklet are printed first and the printer software pauses and gives instructions to reinsert the paper for second printing.

I found one way to print a booklet on a K-M Magicolor 2400. It's not completely satisfactory but it works.
1. DON'T subdivide the page in Wordperfect. Use a normal non-landscape page, but set the margins at something like 1" right and left and minimum at top and bottom.
2. If you don't want the booklet in tiny print, increase the font size, e.g, if you want it printed in something like 12 point, set the font size to 18 point.
3. DON'T check the "print as booklet" box in the printer dialog. Instead, go to printer properties, "Setup" tab, and look for a box that says "Duplex/Booklet." It will say "Off" Set it at "Booklet left edge" (assuming you're not printing a Japanese document that reads back to front, that is. )
4. There is a default box underneath the duplex booklet box that, if checked, prints out a little instruction telling you how to reinsert the paper. You will want to uncheck that once you have printed a few booklets.
This works, using the printer driver software to do the formatting.
Incidentally, the print speed slows down to 25% as if you were doing color printing, since the driver is shrinking the text, reformatting, etc. I have not tried printing a color booklet to see what would happen.

Does any one know why I can't get my WP12 to print booklets? When I try
to print either odd or even pages, it insists on printing all of them.
From: "Nico Akkerman"
Print odd or even pages does'nt work in printing booklets, for each printed page
has and an odd and an even page.
In the print menu choose:
tab Layout
- Use document settings
- Print as a booklet
Halfway printing you get an instruction screen (if your printerdriver it
supports?).
From: Wolfgang Deiminger
Printing odd or even pages of booklets does work. It is always the lower
page number that counts. With the settings you propose, and "print odd
pages" checked, you should get this result (with a 12-page booklet):
page 1 and 12
page 3 and 10
page 5 and 8
If you set page 3-4, check odd pages only and Print as booklet, you get
just pages 3 and 10
From: "Nico Akkerman"
You are right when you choose for a certain number of pages in the Main tab and
Print as a booklet in the Layout tab.
But when in the Layout tab using: Manual (two steps) does'nt work: all pages are
printed. Knowing that I interpreted OP's question in the last way.
When I print a booklet as mentioned in my former posting, which I always do, on
my HP Dekjet 916C all goes as described.

Nico: Well worked out!
I had found the same problem.
Following your plan, my Canon printer printed both sides of each sheet as it
went, even though in the printer driver I had disabled duplex printing (because
the printer tended to go through the duplex routine when just one page was to
be printed). Neat!
From: Charles Rossiter
Nico,
It seems that some printers do not print just the expected half of the
2-sided document. FWIW, my HP Laserjet 5L prints booklets correctly.
An effective alternative is to print the booklet to a PDF printer. Then
it is just a matter of technical skill to print the booklet from the PDF
file.
From: Wolfgang Deiminger
Nico,
This may depend on the printer and / or printer driver. With various
printers I have had it has always worked the way I described, even when
I chose to print all pages.
